SUMMER UNIFORM

A Time-Honored Look, No Effort Required

“I have a tried-and-true uniform that I can throw on when I wake up and wear all day without trying too hard,” said the designer Jeff Halmos, whom fashion fans know as a founder of the much-missed men’s wear brands Trovata and Shipley & Halmos.
A staple of Mr. Halmos’s look is a pima-cotton crew-neck T-shirt from the Swedish fashion chain COS. “The color palette is nice, the fabric is soft, and they’re well priced,” he said.
Mr. Halmos, who lives in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, added that going with a daily uniform makes sense for him now that he is the father of two small children. “One thing that really changed with kids is my unwillingness to make an effort to look cool on a daily basis,” he said. His usual outfit includes jeans and sneakers to go with the COS T-shirt. “It requires little thought, always looks good — even with random pieces of food from the kids crusted to it — and most importantly, for a dad, is comfortable,” Mr. Halmos added.
Last year, with his wife, the designer Lisa Mayock, he started a brand, Monogram, that specializes in ’80s-inspired T-shirts for women.

Denim for Men on the Move

The Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo — the four-time world soccer player of the year — has long been on the lookout for the right pair of bluejeans. And now the search is over, for Mr. Ronaldo has started his own line, CR7 Denim.
“I’ve always struggled to find stylish jeans that also allowed me to move freely without restriction,” he said by email. “As a football player, I understand movement very well and all the ways that apparel can limit or enhance that movement. I think that understanding gave me a real edge when it came to shaping the CR7 Denim line.”
With a range of jeans in five different fits from “modern straight” to “painted-on skinny,” the soccer star’s collection will also include woven shirts, denim jackets and shorts. The line will start at $88 and will go up to $144 for the more premium pieces.

Sleep Tight

What happens when two former architects decide to design bed linens, towels and pajamas? Cleverly Laundry, a new bedding and loungewear brand founded by Amelia McPhee and Roshana Lewis. The brand uses superfine cotton and terry toweling from GuimarĂŁes, a city in Portugal with a long history of producing linens. An e-commerce site will make it easy to shop for home essentials, including towels ($95 to $165) and bed linens ($550 to $590).

A Grooming Kit for Summer

For a lucky few, summertime represents a respite from the cold. For the rest of us, it means one bad hair day after another. The men’s hair stylist Martial Vivot, who works out of his Martial Vivot Salon Pour Hommes in Midtown Manhattan, knows how it is, and he has come up with a kit to conquer almost any hair challenge.
He has one summer-centric tip: “When it gets warmer, you need to be mindful of how much styling product you put in your hair. Since you’re more inclined to sweat, you don’t want to use too much.” Mr. Vivot plans to open a second salon in Greenwich Village this summer.
