Movie theater pays for time-wasting ads

A moviegoer in Bangalore, India, was awarded more than $200 in damages because a cinema played too many ads.
The man filed a lawsuit against the PVR INOX chain after he was forced to cancel work calls because the movie overran the scheduled finish time, according to CNN.
In the case brought before Bangalore’s District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, the plaintiff claimed that his time was wasted, and he suffered “mental agony” as a result of the 25 minutes of commercials that preceded a 2023 screening of “Sam Bahadur.”
The consumer disputes commission ordered the chain to pay him $230 in damages and $92 in costs.
