Stowaway raccoons upset planemaker’s production plans

Airbus production workers had to stop operations and check for damage caused by a family of raccoons that had taken refuge in the company’s Montreal factory, Reuters reported Friday.
Sources told the news agency the saga began when an adult raccoon was spotted climbing the landing gear of a jet being produced for a European airline.
Later, five of the critter’s babies were found inside the plant.
Airbus declined to comment on whether the raccoons had caused any damage or delays. However, sources told Reuters that workers were pulled off their regular jobs to quarantine the jet and inspect for damage, which they found included urine and chewed wires.
Airbus, which is working through supply chain problems caused by more mundane issues, such as the late arrival of components, said the animals have been removed to a safe location, the news story said.
