I’m as Canadian as they come. Born and raised.

On the podcast I was on the other night, after I introduced myself, Matt… one of the hosts, said, “I hear the Canadian accent coming through.”

I’ve always been proud to be a Canadian… well, most of my life. I’m finding it much more challenging these days. The country I live in now is not the country I grew up in.

My grandfather was a WW2 combat veteran who fought alongside Americans, and spent his military career working with them on missile defense systems. My dad even grew up living in Texas for part of his childhood.

Our countries have had one of the strongest relationships the world has ever seen, but that’s over now… and I don’t blame Trump, as most Canadians do. I blame our leadership, and every single person who voted for them.

Just this week, our prime minister posted a clip of a speech he gave at Davos and called it “Canada’s path.”

We are ruled by the Davos crowd, and they’re managing our decline like it’s a business plan. It’s all about benefiting the European powers, and being a thorn in the side of the Trump administration. What’s good for Canadians like me is a secondary thought, at best.

I’ve thought about leaving this country, many times over the last few years. I still think about it. I don’t want to do it, honestly. Canada is my home. My family is here… everyone I love.

My parents are elderly, and I want to be close for when they need me.

But I also don’t want to sit and watch everything I loved about this country decay around me and turn into something else.

That’s why I perk up whenever Trump jokes about making us the 51st state. I’d sign up tomorrow. But please, whatever you do, don’t let us vote.

This is a fantasy. I can’t see it happening anytime soon… if ever… but a boy can dream, can’t he?

stay close,

p.s. 32 Midterm seats left, and they close November 3rd. $15/month, locked for life, and your name goes in my book, if you want it. When they’re gone, they’re gone. stopbeingprey.com/patronage

p.p.s. I’ve also seriously considered moving to El Salvador. Ten years ago, it was the murder capital of the world. Today it’s as safe as Canada, and rising while we sink. Nayib Bukele, their leader, is someone I greatly admire. More on him soon.
