After a Champagne-colored rug sent shock waves through Hollywood last year, this year’s Oscars carpet was back to red.
But another color was the talk of Tinseltown on Sunday as pale blue and mint gowns ruled the carpet. Emma Stone, who has opted for stunning, form-fitting frocks with plenty of embellishment throughout awards season, stole the show in a mint sorbet Louis Vuitton shell-print column dress with a massive peplum.
Hailee Steinfeld in Ellie Saab Couture, Lupita Nyong’o in Armani Privè and Da’vine Joy Randolph in Louis Vuitton looked ethereal in the color of the night.
In addition to seafoam shades, other looks evoked the ocean. Anya Taylor-Joy’s scalloped Dior Haute Couture gown was inspired by Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus.”
Emily Blunt hasn’t missed this awards season with glamorous, edgy looks. Sunday’s shell-colored Schiaparelli gown was among several looks with necklines away from the body. Florence Pugh’s Del Core silver metallic dress had a similar aesthetic.
Black is always in style. Danielle Brooks wowed in Dolce & Gabbana. The Oscar nominee displayed the number 26 on her nails to represent being the 26th Black woman nominated for supporting actress. Eva Longoria was breathtaking in a Tamara Ralph strapless black velvet gown. Carey Mulligan was the epitome of Old Hollywood glamour in a Balenciaga Couture gown with matching opera gloves and white tulle train.
Margot Robbie ended her Barbiecore run with a black sequined Versace gown. Her “Barbie” co-star America Ferrera, meanwhile, ditched her usual black for a pink Versace chainmail dress. “Wicked” star Ariana Grande embraced the same color for her Glinda-inspired look by Giambattista Valli Haute Couture.
Colman Domingo, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu and Matt Bomer were among the men sporting nontraditional suits.
Here are all the looks from the 2024 Oscars red carpet.
