Antifa Behind This Arson Attack

Was Antifa Behind This Arson Attack? | Today on EuroCon

Friday 10 October

Driving the day...

For how much longer are we willing to ignore far-left violence? In the early hours of Monday morning, a fire broke out in a 19th-century hunting lodge in Bavaria, Germany, belonging to Gloria, Dowager Princess of Thurn und Taxis. The building was reduced to the outer walls, and the damage so far totals €4 million.

Police currently believe the fire was a result of arson, and are investigating whether Antifa activists could have been the culprits. They have good reason to believe this. A statement posted on far-left online platform Indymedia appears to claim responsibility for the attack, signed by an “Antifa kommando.” The letter describes the fire as being a “warning” to the princess for her supposedly “reactionary” and “fascist” sympathies. It also cited her connections to figures like former Trump strategist Steve Bannon, Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán, and members of the AfD for provoking the attack. The letter then warned that “if you don’t stop your inhuman agitation, next time not only your golf club will burn.”

If Antifa really are behind the awful destruction of this historic property—and what appears to be a clear threat to Princess Gloria—then it ought to be treated with the same urgency as Germany treats right-wing violence. Will the German authorities start persecuting left-wing activists in the same way they haul pensioners into court for their social-media posts? Don’t count on it.
