Travelers fail to pack common sense

Perhaps those posting their trips to Paris, Rome and the tropics live on an island of denial?
A top property insurer is warning that posting your vacation social media makes you a tad more susceptible to having your home burglarized.
The notion is embedded in the findings of a survey conducted by Allstate Insurance Co. of Canada, which says 32% of Canadian respondents who tend to post about their plans before or while traveling — while also sharing that their home is empty. That figure rises to 51% for those between the ages of 18 and 34.
Among those who abstain from posting, 62% say their main concern is protecting their home from theft while they’re away. This priority is even stronger among people aged 55 and over — 69% choose not to post before or during their vacation. However, 15% of respondents say sharing on social media is more of a priority than keeping their home safe from a break-in.
