When did left-wing protesters lose their sense of humor?

Protest a statute of Confederate Brigadier General Albert Pike

When did left-wing protesters lose their sense of humor?

All these angry leftists today put so much energy into defacing and disfiguring the statues of historical figures they dislike.
It wasn’t always this way.
There was a time when protesters used the power of ridicule to make a point.
For example, right here in Washington, D.C., when activists wanted to protest a statute of Confederate Brigadier General Albert Pike in 1992, they draped the statue in a white sheet and a pointy white hat.
That’s actually kind of funny — at least I think it is.
Nobody was harmed and from what I can tell no damage was done to the statue.
And the target was made to look goofy.
Bingo.
