Sunk by selfish selfies

She took jewelry and then she took pictures.
A woman in England who stole about $171,000 in jewelry and cash from a store she managed got caught after sending photos to former colleagues, according to a British police agency.
After stealing the jewelry, the woman quit her job and went on a cruise and sent selfies to former co-workers, according to a posting on the site of Humberside Police that was linked in a CBS News report. The woman managed the store for a little over a year in 2017 and 2018, BBC News said. The staff knew the jewelry wasn’t hers, the police agency said.
The area manager was told and then police were contacted. Fraudulent activity was found.
“Without a care in the world, dripping in diamonds, thinking she had deceived everybody, (she) arrogantly sent pictures boasting to her ex-colleagues about the great time she was having on holiday, not thinking they would realize what she had been doing,” Detective Sgt. Krista Wilkinson said in the Humberside Police post.
The 39-year-old woman “was by detained by officers at Heathrow Airport upon returning from vacation having returned from her cruise wearing a substantial amount of stolen jewelry,” the agency said.
BBC News said she pleaded guilty in April to theft. She was sentenced to 28 months.
