One part Burlesque, one part nudist colony: The Lullaby Of Bareland ( 1964)
A rare chance to see legendary burlesque stars nude and fun in a nudist colony. Burlesque is back in a huge way today- and we'll examine that, too!
In the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s soft core films were turned out by the hundreds- EMMANUELLE, VIXENS the list goes on and on. Hard core would eventually crush them, but isn’t it odd that there is no sign of these films on streaming platforms? Emmanuelle was a huge hit series, but it doesn’t fit the algorithms, and these films are actually vanishing faster than silent movies!

Virginia Bell began her career in burlesque at age 22. By the 1950s, Bell began posing for men's magazines. Virginia had one starring role in a feature film, Bell, Bare and Beautiful (1963), which was the product of legendary sexploitation team of Herschell Gordon Lewis and David Friedman. It was made to fulfill a request by her husband, Eli Jackson. In it, Virginia plays a burlesque dancer pursued by Lewis regular Thomas Wood. But his attempts at finding true love with the "girl of his dreams" are thwarted by her gangster boyfriend (played by David Friedman). Wood gets around this speedbump by tracking Virginia down at the nudist camp she frequents, which is where at least half the film takes place. Virginia would make another appearance in Lullaby of Bareland (1964), a series of three shorter segments spliced together to flesh out the runtime. Virginia's contribution is a lengthy striptease routine. Aside from feature films, Virginia appeared in many nudie loops. - Wiki

Everyone is jumping on the Burlesque bandwagon. Not just in the U.S., Lisa from BLACKPINK, the biggest women’s group in music history, did a solo show at, wait for it- THE CRAZY HORSE in Paris!
Burlesque is bigger today than it was in 1964, when THE LULLABY OF BARELAND played. I doubt Bettie Page, Tempest Storm, Virginia Bell ever thought burlesque would become mainstream. But let’s not forget, they were the trailblazers. And we can still see the magic of burlesque in THE LULLABY OF BARELAND.
